Fleece fabrics

There are many different kinds and types of fleece. You can read all about this in our blog called what is fleece? There are also some specialist manufacturers of fleece. These have "released" all kinds of different fleece series over the years. Each designed with a specific target group in mind. On this page, we will go through as many of these series as possible, so you can find out which one is most suitable for you.

Arc'teryx

Alpenex II is a fleece fabric developed by Canadian outdoor brand Arc'teryx. Read more about it on our page about Arc'teryx.

Polartec

Polartec is pretty much the inventor of fleece. No wonder you can come across a large number of their fleece fabrics in the outdoor clothing industry. Partly for this reason, we have dedicated a special page to Polartec, where we discuss some common variants. Like: Polartec Alpha, de Polartec Classic series (100, 200, 300), Polartec High Loft, Polartec Power Dry, Polartec Power Grid, Polartec Power Stretch, Polartec Power Stretch Pro, Polartec Shearling Fleece and Polartec Thermal Pro

Pontetorto

Pontetorto is an Italian textile company known for its high-quality fabrics and innovative approach to fabric production. Founded in 1952 in Prato, Italy, the company has grown into a major player in the global textile industry. Pontetorto specialises in the production of both knitted and woven (fleece) fabrics and serves the outdoor and sportswear markets. Two fleece fabrics from Pontetorto that you may come across in our range are Tecnostretch and Tecnowool.

Pontetorto Tecnostretch is the fastest-growing line within the Pontetorto Tecnowear collection. These knitted fabrics have a smooth surface with a technical look and abrasion-resistant properties. The Tecnostretch collection features the grid structures that offer many advantages, such as light weight, excellent breathability and a very compact pack size. Tecnostretch fabrics are highly technical and guarantee durability, breathability and dry very quickly. Ideal for the bottom and middle layers.

Pontetorto Tecnowool fabrics are mainly found in shirts consisting of 100% merino wool or a blend of merino wool, polyester and/or lyocell for use as a bottom layer. We also come across the fabric for use in the middle layer in the form of a stretch fleece with a smooth front, blended or plain, and a back of 100% merino wool with elastomer for increased wearability and comfort.
