Measuring instructions

Clothing

To measure exactly which Patagonia size is most suitable for you, you will first need a tape measure. It is best to ask someone else to take your measurements while you stand upright and relaxed without shoes. Try not to pull the measuring tape too tight, but also not too loose around the body. Avoid bulky clothing. For the most accurate results, have only your undergarments or close-fitting clothes on, such as a base layer.

  • Arm length: bend your elbow and measure from the middle (back) of the neck to the elbow and down to the wrist.
  • Chest: measure the circumference around your chest just below your armpit.
  • Hip: stand with feet together and measure the largest circumference at the hips.
  • Waist: measure around your waist at the smallest circumference.

Gloves

For glove sizes, look at the circumference of your hand at knuckle height. Do not include the thumb. The sizes in the following overview are in centimetres.

Fit

Patagonia uses a total of four terms to describe the fit of its own clothing. In order from tight to loose fit, these are:

  • Formfitting: adapts to the contours of the body.
  • Slim fit: close-fitting shape. Technical slim-fit clothing can be worn over baselayers and lightweight midlayers.
  • Regular fit: neither slim nor oversized. Technical clothing with a regular fit can be worn over heavier midlayers.
  • Relaxed fit: hangs loosely over the body.
